Greys class 11th March

Date: 10th Mar 2022 @ 5:45pm

Another week has flown by and we have been as busy as ever in Greys class.

In Maths we have been working with fractions. We have all been identifying half of shapes and amounts and the Year 2s progressed to finding a quarter. The Year 1s have been recapping on the days of the week and months of the year and 2d and 3d shapes, whilst the Year 2s have been continuing their work on times tables.

On Monday we went for a lovely walk identifying signs of Spring and were lucky enough to be offered a visit into the Church where Lily was able to ring the bells, which was a lovely treat. On our walk we came across the frog sign and saw the pond where they will soon be living, Mrs Hawkins was quietly confident that there weren’t any frogs around just yet, so we will be looking out for them after the Easter holidays!

We continued finding out about the International Space Station in Computing and used Sketchpad to draw a suitcase containing items that we would take to the Space station if we were astronauts. The children have asked me to make sure that I put the websites that we used in the lesson on here so that they can go onto them at home,

Continuing our theme of Spring we wrote Springtime poems and sketched daffodils before using watercolours to paint them. We read the story of Beegu and have been using adjectives and conjunctions in writing about the story.

In music we explored pitch through composing a Superhero pitch pattern and on Tuesday afternoon we had an art and craft session as part of Henley Youth Festival.

Thank you to our book reviews this week. Next week book reviews are Holly, Grace and Ryder. Templates can be found on school spider in the homework section or please feel free to create your own.

Maths

Year 1 - I have set you a Sumdog challenge recapping on halving and also 2d and 3d shapes. Could you also practise reciting the days of the week and months of the year. There are lots of fun songs to sing along to help you.

Year 2 - Times tables challenges have been set on sumdog and you may also use other sources to practise with.

Reading

Please, please try to find 10 -15 minutes to read every day and ensure that an adult updates the reading record in order for us to make sure that we change books when needed. Reading books and reading records need to be in school each day.

Have a lovely weekend.
