Greys class 4th February

Date: 4th Feb 2022 @ 1:12pm

This week in Greys class we have been working with tally charts, pictograms and block diagrams in Maths.

In Literacy we read ‘Dogger’ and then described our favourite toy to our partner and they had to guess what it looked like and try to draw a picture of it. It made us realise how important it was to use the correct details in our descriptions. The following day we used our skills from the previous day to write sentences describing our toys. Then on Wednesday we imagined that we had lost our toy, like in the story and created a poster for our missing toy.

We then started our Little Red Riding Hood unit and began by listening to the story and acting it out in groups. Then on Friday we thought of different questions that we would like to ask the wolf.

It has been Chinese New Year this week and we had lots of fun creating a whole class project exploring how different materials such as paper, card, newspaper and tissue can be manipulated and glued and bought together imaginatively. We used a variety of cutting and tearing techniques to create a tiger to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

In Computing we worked in groups of three taking it in turns to be the beebot, the controller and the judge. The controller had to give detailed instructions to ensure that the beebot moved in the correct direction and the judge checked whether the controller had instructed correctly and whether the beebot listened. It was a fun and very interesting task.

In PE we worked with Springwood class practising dribbling and passing skills and stopping the ball with our feet rather than our hands.

We spent some time practising our handwriting this week and the Year 1s used a Chinese new year puzzle to practise forming numbers correctly.

Thank you to our book reviewers this week.

Next week’s book reviews will be Immie, Francesca and Noah. Templates can be found in the homework section on School spider or you may create your own.
