Highmoor week commencing 15th March

Date: 18th Mar 2021 @ 10:22pm

Welcome to another week in Highmoor.

In maths year 4 have continued to learn about fractions. We looked at equivalent and improper fractions, counted in fractions and added fractions. In year 3 we compared and added lengths and converted between metres, centimetres and millimetres.

In literacy we started the week by reading a poem called The Sound Collector. The poem features lots of onomatopoeia. We started by identifying examples in the poem and then came up with our own ideas. We then worked together in small groups to peform the poem to each other. We have read more of our book The Lion and The Unicorn and have been writing interesting and varied sentence openers. Eg starting sentences with conjunctions, adverbs, similes and feeling words.

In DT we started a new project combining improving our sewing skills and creating an Easter gift. It was very tricky threading a needle and keeping the thread on whilst sewing! We all had a really good go and all managed running stitch.

PE has been lots of fun with more team games and games involving trust where some of us were blindfolded and had to rely on our partner to keep us safe!

Today we watched a video about a little boy with cerebral palsy and looked at the impact the money raised on Red Nose Day has on children in need.

Homework was set on Tuesday and is due by Tuesday morning next week. Spelling Shed and Sumdog are both expected to be completed. Reading should take place daily and be recorded on Go Read.

Have a great weekend everyone!
