Highmoor week commencing 3rd December

Date: 7th Dec 2018 @ 11:07am

It has been a really busy week in Highmoor. We have been doing various assessments which has been hard work. Everyone approached them with a very positive and mature attitude and tried their best. We are really proud of how hard everyone worked.

In maths we have been recapping telling the time. Year 3 were telling the time to within 5 minutes on analogue and digital clocks. Year 4 have been telling the time to the nearest minute and working out time differences.

In literacy at the start of the week we held a town hall debate! Over the last few weeks we have been thinking about the impact of the introduction of the railways on various groups of people. In small groups, we have been role playing our characters and on Monday we gave speeches in our Highmoor town hall to try to persuade people round to our point of view. We took a vote after everyone had spoken to decide if we were for or against the railways. Our vote ended as a tie! We are also continuing reading our class book Ottoline and the Yellow Cat. We are trying to solve the case of the missing lapdogs by looking for clues in the text and then recording them in our notebooks.

In music we have been continuing to practise on our recorders and some of us used hand chimes. We are looking forward to sharing our efforts with you at the Christingle service.

Our Science lessons are continuing with magnets. This week we investigated how magnets pull together or push apart.

Dont forget your spelling books for Monday.
