Welcome to our week in Peppard class.  

This week in phonics we have learned the new trigraph - air

We have also been learning about 2 syllable words and double letters.  We have been reading the following tricky words:

my, by, all, no, go, are, sure, pure

In maths this week, we have begun the phase 'growing 6,7,8'.  We have been looking at the composition of these numbers, matching, and investigating one more and one less.  

In our topic lessons, we have been learning about the Chinese Lunar New Year festival.  We have enjoyed a variety of stories and activities including learning about the animal for this year which is the tiger.  We have looked at where this festival is celebrated throughout the world and where it originated.  

During this week, we have had so much fun finding and creating our own secret symbols.  Everyone has been very motivated to make their own!  You might find some secret symbols at home this weekend!

We must say a big thank you to Valentina, Erin's mummy, for doing a presentation about Italy.  We also ate the most delicious home made pizza.  We will continue learning about Italy next week.  

Thank you for all your hard work with reading at home.  The continued practise of one book has led to confident and fluent readers.  We can see fantastic progress from the children who read at home regularly when we read at the beginning and then the end of the week.
