Supporting your children at home

Daily Reading.

Daily reading is essential, both for progress and continued enjoyment. All children also read daily at school, with reading activities taking place for forty minutes every day.

Children also visit Sonning Common Library, at least once a term.

The library is a valuable resource for us, as we do not have one of our own. It is also possible to borrow ebooks and audio books for free from them too.

In early years, practising phonics at home, helps with giving children building blocks that will enable them to be successful readers.

Maths.

With your support, we can ensure that your child becomes the best mathematician they can be. This page contains useful information to help you understand what is expected of your child as they travel up through the school and what you can do to support them.

Below is our calculation policy, split into in six parts. It shows how we teach each of the four number operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) in each school year.
