11-15 December.

Whew!!! We made it!!

Some of our Greys children who are part of the school drama club performed a variety of songs from Mary Poppins. They were brilliant and I've attached a picture for those of you who were unable to be here for that.

We are all bursting with pride after our children performed their Nativity play with such confidence and aplomb!  I want to pay tribute to you all for your outstanding support; from supplying amazing costumes, to helping your children learn their lines and then seeing you all come to the shows. This community spirit makes this job so worthwhile.  The children mostly enjoyed the process and learnt so many skills along the way; perseverance, patience, delayed gratification, the value of committing information to memory, the value of collaboration and the sense of being a part of something greater than ones-self and so much more.

I am so,so grateful too that Mrs Fowler offered to take this on and left it to me to be her support person. Mrs Dunn, our incredible volunteer, gave of her time to assist us on the day and Lottie Eary so generously gave of her time and experience, (as well as that of her lovely parents!) to help with acting direction and the slick, seamless music backing and amazing sound system. I can't thank you enough!

The school Christmas dinner day on Wednesday was such a joyous affair.  The preplanned walking route was sodden, so instead we took the children down the hill towards All Saints Church. We sang carols all the way down the hill and then visited inside the church. Greys class sang many of the songs they had sung in the Nativity the night before and the Peppard and Greys teachers stood in admiration and listened with goosebumps. They sang really beautifully and loved hearing how beautiful the ecoustics are in that special Holy place,

Then we said hello to the horses in the neighbouring field and walked back up to school where Christmas dinner was waiting, so kindly served by our FOPS parents. After pulling Christmas crackers and scoffing down a delicious lunch, the children stood patiently to receive their gifts from Santa.

What a great day they all had!

Once our room was back to it's former state on Thursday, we dared to do a little Maths and English again.

In Maths the children in both years are learning about 2D shapes; their names, number of sides, corners, edges. They had to use their scissor cutting skills to cut out component shapes and replicate pictures made of shapes.

In English we have had fun reading and writing about Mog the cat.

In the afternoon we spent time colouring, painting and crafting Christmas things.

Mrs Elson took the children for a fun P.E. lesson after lunch on Friday. They learnt catching skills and played dodgeball.

Have a great weekend.
