Peppard Class - 23/09/2022

Date: 23rd Sep 2022 @ 12:48pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard class.

We have begun our Little Wandle phonics scheme this week. The children have learned the phonemes (sounds):

s, a, t, p

They have also been practising writing the graphemes (the written letter).
We have also begun blending and reading. Your child has brought home a couple of sheets with these sounds on, it would be great if you could practise reading and writing them.

In maths, we have been looking at positional language and playing maths board games. We have also been ordering our daily routine.

For our topic work, we have been talking about our families and reading books about different kinds of families. The children drew pictures of you in your houses. They were so proud of their work. Please do send in a picture of your family and, if possible, a picture of your child as a baby.

In literacy lessons, the children have learned and retold the story of The Three Little Pigs. We used pictures to order and sequence whilst remembering some of the repeated refrains.

The children have had lots of time to explore and choose, work as a team and solve problems whilst using all the lovely equipment inside and outside. My favourite moment was when a child proudly declared "Mrs Byron, I have written my first grapheme!"

Have a lovely weekend.
