Art

In art this term we have been focusing on Islamic art and as the last project of the term we created Islamic designed tiles. To create them we used clay cut in blocks then we rolled them into a square and let them dry. Once they were dry we drew grids on them to allow for us to create our symmetrical design. Then we painted our designs with only the primary colours and green and then we were able to add more detail with white. After that we glazed them with PVA glue.

Literacy

We have been looking at a poem called the Dreadful Menace and we have been recapping figurative language to create our own version. We have been doing lots of writing building up to creating our own version and have been revising similes, metaphors, personification, hyperbole and symbolism to add more description and support our creative writing. The last project in literacy this week was to create a video clip of our own poem. 

Quad Kids

Some of the class took part in Quad Kids this week. They attended MECE on Tuesday and all took part in two running events, a throwing event and a jumping event. Georgia, who took part said, "There were four events, standing long jump, sprint, howler throw and long distance. We came third, it was really fun and we enjoyed supporting all of the team and the other schools."
