Greys 14th December

What a fantastic start to the week we had!

We still can't believe that we managed to do three performances of our play on Monday. Thank you so much to everyone who helped organise costumes, learn lines and songs, but most of all a huge thank you goes to the amazing children of Greys and Peppard class who were all absolute superstars. We have had so many kind words and compliments about the play and it was a joy to see it all come together and the children having so much fun in each performance.

In Literacy this week we wrote a poem entitled 10 Good wishes for Christmas and used adjectives and alliteration to describe our wishes. We watched the Man on the Moon television advert and wrote a party inviation inviting the Man on the Moon to our parties and the follwoing day in Big Write we wrote letters to the Man on Thre Moon persuadinbg him to come to our parties as he hadn't replied.

We have really challenged ourselves in Maths this week. The Year 1s have been using their knowledge of number bonds to add 1,2,3 and 4 to numbers and some of us progressed to using number squares and beaded lines to add single digit numbers to 2 digit numbers. The Year 2s have been adding and subtracting multiples of 10 to and from 2 digit numbers and then added and subtracted 11,12,13,21,22,31 and 32 to and from 2 digit numbers using number squares and beaded lines.

We discussed the different jobs that people in Henley do and enjoyed finding out about everyone who had been interviewed at the weekend and were amazed at how many different occupations there were.We have been listening to the story of The Christmasaurus every day and on Friday Phoebe played her elf song that she had brought back from Lapland, we enjoyed copying all the actions, as we did to our Maths counting song that we performed to warm us up after a very chilly breaktime.
