Greys 16th November

Date: 16th Nov 2018 @ 4:57pm

On Tuesday we took Paddington into Henley to explore the town we live in. We shared our fascinating facts from our homework as we stopped at different places and agreed that Paddington would love to sample the 38 different varieties of marmalade that Waitrose has on offer! We spotted Paddington in the window of Asquiths, the teddy bear shop and disocvered that it is one of the oldest shops in Henley and the first teddy bear shop in the world. We explored the different views of the Chantry House and St Mary's church and lots of other interesting places that some of us had never been to before. Thank you so much to the mummies who came along to help us.  We will be taking another trip into Henley in a couple of weeks time.

In Maths we have been working with odd and even numbers. The Year 1s moved onto ordering the days of the week and the months of the year, if we could practise these regularly at home that would be wonderful. The Year 2s were adding and subtracting 10,11,20 and 21 to and from 2 digit numbers using a number square.

In Literacy we have been reading some of the Paddington stories by Michael Bond. We made our own luggage labels and practised writing our addresses, making sure that we used capital letters in the correct places. We drew and labelled pictures of Paddington and also thought of items that he might have in his suitcase and used commas to separate them.

In Phonics the Year 2s have been looking at words ending in -y and the Year 1 have been looking at alternative spellings of the ee sound.

We used salt dough on Tuesday afternoon to create our diva lamps from our plans and did a great job of shaping and decorating them. We can't wait to bring them home next week.

Please make sure that full PE kit and jogging bottoms are in school every day. We have a tag rugby tournament on Wednesday morning so please remember full PE kit, coats and water bottles.
