Greys 24th May

Date: 25th May 2019 @ 12:35pm

There goes another fabulous term!

This week the Year 2s have been busy with Maths assessments and we have also been looking at telling the time on analogue and digital clocks. Year 1s have been working on the o clock and half hour whilst the Year 2s have been working on the quarter hour with some looking at the nearest 5 minutes. If you could continue to practise telling the time at home on a regular basis it would be a great help.

On Tuesday we visited the River and Rowing Museum to find out about the habitats of the characters in Wind in the Willows and had a great day there. Thank you so much to the mums who came along to help and for Mr Tanner for driving us there. Details were sent out yesterday about our next trip which is to Whipsnade Zoo on June 17th where we will be learning all about African animals and their habitats.

In Literacy we wrote detailed descriptions of the habitats of the character we had focussed on during our workshop and used lots of adjectives and new vocabulary to describe them.

In Art we used all the skills that we have learned this term to draw a portrait from a photograph of one of the significant individuals that we have been studying this term and then painted them, carefully mixing colours to try and match skin tones.

In French we have become experts at naming parts of the body and began to learn the names of different items of clothing.

We finished the week off with a visit to Springwood's Egyptian museum.

In Show and Tell this week we have heard about Ada Lovelace, William Shakespeare and perhaps 'The Greatest Day' for some... Gary Barlow!

The only homework for the holidays is Spellings which will be tested on the first Monday back and if you could read every day that would be wonderful.

Next term PE will be on a Monday and Wednesday, please remember to have full PE kit including trainers, also a water bottle, hat and sun cream.

Our topics next term are Why would a dinosaur not make a good pet? in which we will be investigating dinosaurs and  animals and their habitats and Where would you prefer to live England or Kenya? whereby we will be exploring similarities and differences between the two countries.

Show and Tell is therefore on either of these topics

Monday - Dex

Tuesday - Eliza

Wednesday - Max

Thursday - Harry

Friday - Annabelle.

Have a lovely half term.
