Greys 3rd March

Date: 6th Mar 2023 @ 8:38am

What another busy week we've had.

Greys have started exploring a new text 'The Dark' by Lemony Snicket. So far, we have used the text to discuss our own fears and how we can rationalise them. We've also used the text to practise using subordinating conjunctions: when, if and because to give tips to Laszlo, the main character about how he can rationalise his fears in the dark.

In Maths, the year 1s have been investigating all numbers within 20 - we've been busy building the numbers using diennes, ten frames, numicon and number beads. We've practised spelling the numbers, deciding whether they're odd or even and solving problems. The year 2s have continued with shape, finding lines of symmetry, drawing the other half of a symmetrical shape, sorting 2D shapes and counting edges and faces on 3D shapes.

In Computing, the children have been exploring inputs and how we can control electronic devices by inputting instructions, i.e. by pushing a toaster leaver down, we are telling it to cook the bread. The children were given a robot design and had to decide what controls they would like the robot to do once buttons on him had been pressed.

In art, the children looked at artwork by Paul Klee & Emma Burleigh, famous watercolour artists, The intention was to have children consider what they liked and disliked about the artwork.

On Friday afternoon, as part of world book day, the children looked fabulous in their pyjamas and comfy clothes. Have visited all of the classrooms in their houses, they came back bursting with information about the stories they'd heard.

Hope you had a lovely weekend.
