Greys 5th May

Date: 4th May 2023 @ 1:27pm

In maths, the year 1s have been continuing their exploration of place value within 50. We have looked at grouping in tens to making counting groups of larger numbers easier. On Friday, we played a game where the children had to build a number and then describe it using the phrase, "It has X many tens and X many ones." The rest of the class had to work out the number. We then looked at all the different ways we can represent a number and had a go at doing this in our books.

The year 2s have begun practising and rehearsing multiplying and dividing by 2. They've also been introduced to Hit the Button, a great app to practise verbal recall.

In English, we have been doing some grammar work, adding '-est' to root words. We then looked at these words in the context of the Three Little Pigs and wrote them into sentences.

In Geography, we have continued our learning of the UK, this time honing in on the four countries, their capital cities, surrounding bodies of water and the differences between each of the home nations.

Greys had their first of four cricket sessions on Thursday morning which was very exciting.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend,
Mrs W.
