Greys 9th June

Date: 8th Jun 2023 @ 1:31pm

We've had a lovely ease back into learning this week.

Both year groups have kick-started their maths learning of time. The year ones have investigated using the terms 'before' and 'after' in the right context. We've also looked at corectly ordering the days of the week and have been challenged with solving multple problems using our knowledge. We have begun but will continue to investigate the months of the year next week. The year twos have gone straight to analogue clocks: recapping o'clock and half past; and now looking at quarter past and quarter to in greater detail. It would be great if the children from both year groups could practice their time learning at home.

Our English for the next few weeks, ties in neatly with our new History unit: 'Who were famous when mummy and daddy were little?' We will be looking firstly at the Royal Family, writing about Queen Elizabeth II and producing a non-chronological report on King Charles III. The year 2s began writing their non-chronological reports this week. The year 1s have finished their retelling of their own versions of 'The Three Little Pigs' where they had changed the materials used in the story. On Friday, they got a taster of year 2 life, where they were handed green pens to begin editing and proofreading their stories. They worked in pairs so they could quality control and check each other's editing. They did such a wonderful job!

On Wednesday afternoons, Greys will continue visiting Kennylands for Gymnastics. On Tuesdays they will be walking down to the Tennis club.
