Greys class 10th December

Date: 10th Dec 2021 @ 6:53am

Well, what a week we have had!

The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the Nativity Play. On Monday afternoon we had a dress rehearsal in front of the rest of the school at Church which helped enormously with our confidence and heightened our excitement for the following day. On Tuesday we performed the play twice to our families and friends. Whilst we have been practising the songs since half term we have actually only been practising the play itself for the last two weeks, and the children have been so committed into throwing themselves into rehearsals. Each and every one of them made us so very proud and the smiles on their faces said it all. Thank you to all the parents for your help with costumes, learning lines and listening to songs over the last few weeks.

On Monday afternoon Springwood class came in to shrae their pop up books that they had made in DT. We really enjoyed reading the stories and exploring the books.

On Wednesday we had more excitement with Christmas jumper day, our Christmas lunch and visit from Father Christmas. Whilst the room was being prepared we went on a welly walk with Peppard class to get some fresh air and build up an appetite. We were amazed by the transformation of our classrooms on our return. It was lovely to be able to open up Greys and Peppard classrooms and all eat our lunch together, before visiting Father Christmas.

In Computing we continued our work with algorithms, using mazes to give directions and then began creating our own. Please feel free to practise at home using

In PSHE this week we finished our unit on teamwork by talking about good and not so good choices and the resulting consequences.Google coding for carrots https://www.google.com/doodles/celebrating-50-years-of-kids-coding.

We finished our letters to Mrs Claus asking for presents for some special people in our lives and in Maths we began our new topic of multiplication. We began by understanding what equal and unequal groups are and some Year 2s even used their knowledge of times tables to calculate totals of the groups.

Thank you to Elle for her book review this week, which was a lovely book called Mole’s Star and  Olivia, who reviewed The Burpee Bears..

Book reviews for next week are Holly, Ryder and Lily. You will find the templates in the homework section on School spider or please feel free to create your own.
