Greys class 11th December

Date: 10th Dec 2020 @ 1:40pm

Welcome to another busy week in Greys class!

This week we have been very busy filming the Nativity and now Mrs Clinkard is busy putting it all together ready to upload for you all to view next week. It has been so much fun filming, what has been a very different Nativity this year and the children have been amazing. Thank you so much for all the fabulous costumes and for helping the children to learn their lines, it has definitely made our life a lot easier. An absolutely huge thank you must go to Mrs Clinkard, who has been so creative through all of this, setting scenes, directing and filming and learning a totally new skill of putting it all together for us all to enjoy next week.

In Literacy this week we watched the John Lewis, Man on the Moon advert from 2015. We felt that this year more than ever we should think of old people who might be alone at Christmas. We wrote invitations to a special elderly person in our life that we might invite to a Christmas party. We then worked in pairs and thought of adjectives to describe how old people like the Man on the Moon might be feeling this Christmas and then adjectives to describe how they might feel if they received a present from us. We then pretended to be the Man on the Moon and wrote a letter describing how we felt and how thankful we were for the present and thought of one wish we might have at Christmas if we were elderly and alone. The children came up with some very thoughtful and poignant suggestions.

This week we also wrote our Christmas wishes for ourselves, our family and the world.

In Maths the Year 1s have been splitting numbers into 10s and 1s , whilst the Year 2s have been continuing their work with money and focusing this week on finding the difference between two amounts and finding change.
