Greys class 11th June

Date: 11th Jun 2021 @ 12:57pm

Welcome back to our final term of the year!

I hope you all had a lovely break and are enjoying the fact that Summer seems to have finally arrived.

We have had a lovely first week back and undoubtedly the highlight of the week was taking 28 very excited children on their first school trip for a very long time! Well, it was well and truly worth the wait. We were blessed with glorious sunshine and had an amazing day. We were outdoors for the whole day with an abundance of activities to keep us busy. We went on a tree hunt, identifying 9 varieties of trees and also did a bit of tree hugging, which we loved as you can  see from the photos. We created pictures of flowers from things we found in the meadow and then labelled the parts of the flower. We played a game whereby the adults were the Queen bees and most of the children had to collect some pollen from the flowers to then take to the Queen which was great fun. We saw so many caterpillars, damsel flies and all sorts of creatures as we were wandering around and had a great time making dens and just enjoying being outdoors. A big thank you to all the adults who helped out on the trip and to Mr Tanner for driving the minibus.

Continuing with the theme of trees, in Art we drew trees and created the leaves using torn bits of paper to create a collage effect.

In Literacy this week we began the week by writing rhyming poems about rain and then moved on to writing some super sense poems about Summer, which we are looking forward to seeing on display soon. We finished the week offer by working in groups and performing different poems about the weather.

In Maths the Year 2s have been continuing their work with time, please continue to practice telling the time to the quarter hour on an analogue clock at home. The Year 1s have been working with numbers to 100 and getting used to using a number square to help them solve problems.
