Greys class 18th January

This week we shared our dress and football kit designs from 1953 and found out more about Queen Elizabeth. We watched her Coronation, and learned all about how she became Queen before reenacting the Coronation ourselves and designing and labelling one of her Coronation crowns.

Next Wednesday we will be visiting Windsor Castle to find out more about the Queen and her role. Please remember to return your permission slips as soon as possible. Children will need a waterproof coat, packed lunch and water bottle.

In Maths the Year 2s have been using the > and < signs and rounding numbers to the nearest 10 whilst the Year 1s have been finding 10 more and 10 less of a 2 digit number, some of them even moved onto adding multiples of 10.

In Literacy we researched the features of non fiction texts and are beginning to write our own non chronological report about sea turtles. We used https://www.ducksters.com/animals/sea_turtles.php and https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/discover/animals/sea-life/turtle-facts/ to help source information about these fascinating creatures.

We began to learn the days of the week in French and thought of different reasons why we should be thankful to display on our values tree. 

Following on from learning the National Anthem, this week we began to learn the dance for 'Rock around the clock'  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uQgwNxFD0Y. It was so much fun and we were pretty good at it!

We had a lovely morning on Tuesday baking bread rolls and enjoyed tasting them in the afternoon when we evaluated what went well and how we might improve upon them. Next week we will be making bread rolls again, but are hoping to enhance our first attempt by adding 25g of an ingredient of our choice which needs to be brought into school by Thursday please.
