Greys class 20th September

Date: 20th Sep 2019 @ 3:46pm

Greys class have been learning lots about the countries of the United KIngdom this week. We began the week finding out about the Loch Ness Monster and all that Scotland has to offer. We wrote newspaper reports describing sightings of Nessy. The following day we moved onto Wales and drew and labelled dragons, using adjectives in our descriptions. On Wednesday it was onto Northern Ireland where we renacted the story of The Giant's Causeway and a few of us even had a go at a spot of Irish dancing. Then on Thursday we focussed on London and visited all the London landmarks whilst reading Katie in London. By Friday we had become UK experts and collected our information to become tour guides on our chosen country, which we presented to the rest of the class.

In Maths this week we have been using different coins to find different amounts and the Year 2s were using a systematic approach to ensure that they didn't miss any combinations. Towards the end of the week we moved onto time and whilst the Year 1s have been looking at the o'clock and half past the Year 2s were looking at telling the time to the nearest 15 minutes. Please do continue to practise this at home, especially with analogue clocks.

We used our primary and secondary colour paintings from last week to weave with this week. Some of us found this rather tricky at first, but were very pleased once we finally got the hang of it and are looking forward to weaving with different materials in the weeks ahead.
