Greys class 23rd November

Date: 22nd Nov 2018 @ 4:14pm

We have been very busy practising daily for the Christmas play this week and for homework this weekend we need to practise our lines, making sure that we speak loudly and clearly.

In Maths we have been investigating 2d shapes and their properties. We sorted different shapes according to their criteria and had lots of fun using the geo boards to create our own 2d shapes.

We wrote a recount of our trip to Henley and then wrote letters to Aunt Lucy from Paddington telling her all about our trip to Henley, decsribing all the places we visited and why Paddington would like them and how he felt.

In Phonics the Year 1s have been investigating the alternative i sound whilst the Year 2s have been adding ies to nouns and verbs ending in y.

On a very cold and wet Wednesday morning we made our way to Henley Hawks to take part in a morning of rugby skills and a tag rugby tournament. Luckily the sun came out and we had a fun filled morning. Thank you to those parents who came along to cheer us on.

We have been learning the countries and capital cities that make up the United Kingdom and we also named the surrounding seas and located Henley on our maps. We also enjoyed listening to the seven continents song, which we will be revisiting regularly throughout the year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6DSMZ8b3LE

Mrs Todaro and MIss Miles taught us all about the different habitats that Paddington has experienced in Peru and the UK and we used the ipads to research similarities and differences between the two countries.

A gentle reminder that our PE days are Monday and Thursday every week and PE kits must be in school daily but especially on these days, there are still several children every PE lesson forgetting kits.

It is with great sadness that we say farewell to Mrs Todaro and Miss Miles who have been with us over the last six weeks, whilst they train to be teachers. They have provided us with some great learning opportunities and lots of fun and creative lessons which we have thoroughly enjoyed. We wish them all the best for the future.

On Monday morning we will be going for another trip into Henley to discover what else our town has to offer and share some more fascinating facts. Please ensure that you have a warm coat and we will be back in school in time for lunch.
