Greys Class 23rd Sept

Date: 23rd Sep 2022 @ 3:27pm

There's been some fabulous jam-packed learning in Greys this week.

In maths, the year ones have been familiarisng themselves with the numbers up to 10: writing them as a numeral and today, recognising and beginning to write them written form. We have also experimented with representing amounts of objects using our ten frames. The year twos have continued with their learning of numbers up to 100, and how we can count in chunks of 10 to more effectively count up to larger two-digit numbers more quickly. As ever, our maths learning is heavily supporting using equipment and so the children were tasked with representing a given number using 3 different forms of maths equipmen.

In English, we have continued our work on the story 'Wild'. Mrs White read us the story at the beginning of the week and we have looked more closely at the language used. We have been discussing the meaning of the word 'feral'. In spellings, the year 2s have been focusing on the /r/ sound spelt 'wr'. Mrs White gave them spellings were she had gotten all muddled and spelt all of the words wrong - the children then had to use their neat letter formations to rewrite the sentences and correct the 'wr' words. In phonics, the year 1s are continuing to recap phase 3 sounds.

In Art on Wednesday, the year ones were gifted with brand new sketchbooks. As the year twos are continuing to use theirs from last year, we have demarcated the new school year by going out onto the common, looking for signs of autumn and then taking our findings back to the classroom to create a autumn-themed page of sketchings using shades of oranges, reds and browns.

Have a fabulous weekend.
