Greys class 4th September 2020

Date: 4th Sep 2020 @ 6:19pm

Welcome back to a New School Year!

It has been lovely to have the children all back in School this week and listen to their stories about their Summer holidays. They have been a delight to have in class and it has been a pleasure to see their smiling faces and listen to them chatting away to each other.

We have spent the last few days getting to know each other and preparing different things to put on display in the classroom to make it feel more like ours. It does look very different with all the desks in rows facing the front, but we have quickly got used to it and love having our own trays and our own pack of equipment that we each have.

We have thought about our hopes for the year and we also discussed this term's value of Perseveance and thought of examples of times when we have shown perseverance.

Next week we will be starting our new topic "What would Paddington find exciting about Hdenley on Thames?" Throughout this topic we will be learning about the town that we live in and where Henley is located in the UK.

Paddington will also be our theme in Literacy for the next couple of weeks and we have already begun to listen to a few stories about Paddington. We also began reading Hotel Flamingo today, which we really enjoyed listening to.

All the children have now been listened to read and have been sent home with a new reading book. When they have finished their reading book they will put it in the box in the classroom first thing in the morning and take a new book from a selection that they have in their reading folders in their trays. We are currently not sending reading records home, but will keep you updated on that situation.

Unfortunately Show and Tell is also something that we are unable to do at present and I will of course let you know if and when that also changes.

Staffing wise in Greys class I will be in class all day every day except Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Mrs Clinkard will be in all day Monday and Wednesday, and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and Mrs Wall will be in on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

PE will be on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons with Mrs Elson and Mrs Clinkard.

If you have any questions please feel free to email the office or catch me at the end of the day.

Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to our first full week ahead.
