Greys week commencing 11th November

Date: 14th Nov 2019 @ 7:23pm

It has been another busy week in Greys class with lots of fun and learning taking place.

We have had more interesting show and tells with Ted's experiments and Lucas with his metal detector being highlights! Thank you so much for everyone making the effort with show and tell, it really helps our topics come alive.

In maths this week the year 1s have been partitioning single digit numbers in to 2 pairs and trying to see if they can find all the different ways to make the total. We have been working on recording addition and subtraction sums accurately and working systematically to ensure we find all possibilities. Year 2s have been using beaded lines and number squares to add and subtract 20, 30, 40, 50 to 2 digit numbers. We then moved on to adding and subtracting 21, 22, 23, 31, 32, 33 etc.

We have continued to study the short film the Black Hat.  We looked at diary entries and thought about what makes a good diary. We then thought about what our own magical hats would look like and what kind of magical creatures would emerge from them. We used adjectives and expanded noun phrases to describe them.

In PSHE we thought about how we belonged to different teams and groups. We realised that we were all part of so many different teams from football teams, gym clubs, Rainbows to being part of Greys class team, Peppard school team and our own family team. Being part of these teams gave us all a sense of belonging and we realised we had bonds with lots of different people.

Thank you to those of you that came to the Church service. We hope you enjoyed it. And thank you to all of you for practising with your child - it makes a big difference for them to feel confident on the day. We have been continuing to practise our Christmas play and are starting to get to grips with some of the songs.

Mrs Hawkins is looking forwad to being back in class on Tuesday and meeting with parents on Monday.
