Highmoor 10th June

Date: 10th Jun 2022 @ 9:23am

Welcome to the final half term of this school year.

Our PE days are now Monday and Wednesday. We had a great time going to Peppard Tennis Club this week where we practised skills in pairs and threes.

In maths we are learning about measurements and started looking at mass, g and kg with Mrs Claridge. We investigated what a kg felt like and used scales to measure items around the classroom. With Mrs Griffith we are learning about length and have spent time measuring things around school in cm and mm.

Our new geography topic is 'Where on earth are we?' we started by looking at the differences between globes and 2D maps. We spent time using atlases to investigate which continents were in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere and which straddled the equator.

We will be reading an abridged version of 80 Days Around The World in ERIC and used dictionaries to investigate some of the tricky words we will come across.

On Thursday the children who had taken part in quad kids last term returned to take part in the finals. They performed brilliantly and came 3rd overall. Well done!!

The performance at the Kenton will be here before we know it and we have been practising our songs whenever we can. Just a reminder that Highmoor's outfits need to be party clothes, no big logos or writing please.

Homework has been set as usual. Year 3s have Sumdog. Please help your child to complete this. Year 4s maths books also need to be completed each school night. Children should be ready to start week 6 day 1 on Monday next week. Please help them catch up if they are not there.

Year 4 will be completing their official government times table test next week on Wednesday.

Have a great weekend everyone.
