Highmoor 14th October

Date: 14th Oct 2022 @ 12:06pm

Welcome to a week in Highmoor.

We have had a very exciting week as we had both DT and RE days. Tuesday was DT where we had to make slingshot racing cars. We used lollipop sticks to make the chassis, straws, dowels and plastic wheels to make the axle and wheels, lolly sticks and elastic bands to make the launch mechanism and card to make nets to use as the body. We thought about how to make our design aerodynamic and eye catching. It was lots of fun working on our designs but quite tricky when it came to making it, especially the body! We are looking forward to testing and evaluating them next week.

Thursday was RE day which started with our Harvest festival. It was lovely to be in the church again with everyone. After the service we stayed behind and explored the church a little. Our focus question was Do Christians have to take Communion? This was quite a tricky concept and we spent all day investigating it.

The rest of the week was lessons as usual. In maths we have moved on to addition and subtraction.

In literacy we are almost at the end of The Firework Makers Daughter and have started to think about the features of a diary so that we can write one in character next week.

In geography we learnt about the different stages of a river and what features can be found at each stage.

Thank you to all of you for your generous donations of food at Harvest Festival. They will be much appreciated.

Honework is doodle maths, times tables and reading.

Have a great weekend everyone.
