Highmoor 17th June

Welcome to another week in Highmoor.

We have been busy preparing for the Kenton next week and are looking forward to performing for you.

In literacy we have started to look at the book Journey by Aaron Becker. This is a picture book with no words so we have written dialogue to accompany some of the illustrations making sure to get our speech punctuation correct. We also wrote a setting description using interesting sentence openers and powerful verbs.

In maths we finished investigating mass, converting between g and kg, adding and subtracting and solving word problems. We are continuing to work on measuring using cm, mm, m and for the yr 4s km. Again we have been comparing, adding and subtracting and converting between units.

We had a fun afternoon making Fathers Day cards, we hope you like them!

We continued to look at planet Earth and added more to our 2D maps. We also looked at addresses and thought about what each element of the school's address referred to. We started to investigate streets, towns, cities, counties and continents that are to the North, East, South and West of us but technology failed us so we will continue with this next week!

Please can maths and reading homework be completed by all children. It really does have an impact on children's learning. We need parent's help with this.
