Highmoor 20th January

Date: 19th Jan 2023 @ 9:44am

Welcome to our week in Highmoor.

In literacy we finished reading Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx and wrote diary entries as if we were Marcy after hot seating to investigate her emotions. We did some work looking at paragraphs whilst writing about our DT day and evaluating our work.

In maths yr 4s have finished learning short multiplication and are moving into division. Year 3s are continuing with multiplication and started to learn the grid method.

In music this week we continued exploring Samba music by learning some syncopated rhythms using untuned percussion instruments.

We started PE this week with a half mile run around the common. Some of us had to walk some of it, some of us managed to run all the way but all the children completed the full half mile. We are so proud of them all. Then we did some map reading and identified features of our local area on an OS Map before creating our own maps of the school. Wednesday's PE lessons are all about learning football skills and we had fun playing some team games practising those skills.

Thursday was DT day which was lots of fun as usual. We built some great pavilions themed around ancient Egypt. We learnt a lot about both structures and ourselves; super teamwork, great engineering and wonderful creativity!

Homework is Doodle maths and reading. Have a great weekend all.
