Highmoor 26th may

Date: 26th May 2023 @ 4:03pm

We've had a lovely last week of this half term.

We had a virtual visit today from animator Dara McGarry. She told us all about the films she has worked on (Frozen, Bolt, Dinosaur, Tangled and Meet the Robinsons to name a few!), animation techniques and characterisation. She then took questions from the class and we discovered that Olaf from Frozen has been her favourite character to work with, that it takes 122,400 frames to make a feature length animation, that Rapunzel was the hardest character to animated as she has 70ft of hair which has to move in every frame, that in the future we may have interactive movies and that snakes are the hardest characters to animated as they are so curvy! What an inspiring 30 minutes! Thank you so much for joining us today Dara!

We also took advantage of the sunshine and used  our puppets to create a shadow theatre in the playground - a perfect combination of art and science!

We wrote and very carefully edited diary entries in literacy as a character from Escape From Pompeii.
We thought about Tranio's feelings and how they changed throughout the book.

In maths year 3s continued to work on measurement looking at cm,mum,m and solving problems involving them. Year 4s continued their work on perimeter.

We finished our computing topic investigating the weather. We have improved our internet search techniques and use of spreadsheets.

It looks like the weather is going to be very kind to us over half term! We hope you all have a great break.
