Highmoor 27th May

Date: 26th May 2022 @ 1:16pm

Welcome to the final week of this half term in Highmoor.

We've had a fun filled week with lots going on.

We finished writing our non chronological reports about dragons in literacy. The children all produced some excellent writing and illustrations for this and should be really proud of themselves.

We finished our history topic by investigating the feudal system and how society was organised under the Normans.

RE day was spent thinking about ‘How did the world begin?’ and looking at creation stories across religions, cultures and science. These focused on Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, the Big Bang and Evolution.  We also looked at Chinese and Aborigine stories of creation. The class were really engaged and reflected on questions they might like to ask ‘God’ about creation and which aspects of all of these stories they found meaningful to them.

We were lucky enough to have 2 visitors to class on Wednesday - Mrs Rancombe (Elsie's mum!) and Mrs Kent (Ted's mum!) who helped us build circuits to investigate how fruit, vegetables and different types of metal could produce electricity. They also brought a vandagraph generator in with them and we got to see the effects of static electricity - you can see the hair raising evidence in the photos! Thank you ladies for a great way to end our science topic.

Many year 4 children took part in a quad kids event and performed brilliantly - Peppard came second! On to the finals next term! Well done to all that took part.

DT day on Friday was lots of fun with designing, making and evaluating games which used static electricity. Thank you for helping children gather resources.

This term really seems to have whizzed by. We hope you all have a great half term break and return ready for the fun filled final half term of this year.
