Highmoor 2nd December

Date: 2nd Dec 2022 @ 10:55am

Welcome to our week in Highmoor.

We had lots of fun decorating our Christmas tree using nets of shapes in maths. Christmas has arrived in Highmoor!

In other maths, year 3s spent a while learning number bonds to 100, using bead strings to help. They then moved on to estimating answers to calculations before working out the final answer. Year 4s continued with multiplication looking at related facts - 4x6, 4x60, 4x600 and how to partition calculations to make them easier eg 3 x 48 is the same as 3 x 40 + 3  x 8.

In literacy we wrote comic strips of the story of Hansel and Gretel and continued to work on our speech punctuation.

We learnt about economic activities that take place around the coast and how tourism is important for many coastal areas.

We had lots of fun in art getting started on cutting and sticking paper for our collages.

In PSHE we talked about how best to respond to a situation or opinion that makes us feel uncomfortable. We talked about how important it is to be assertive whilst still remaining kind and respectful.

In science we had a great time making our own fossils which helped us understand the process. Thank you to all the children who have been bringing in their fossils and rocks to share with us all.

Thank you for supporting your children with their access to Doodle maths and continuing to read with them.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
