Highmoor 31st March

Date: 31st Mar 2023 @ 1:31pm

Welcome to the final week of the spring term in Highmoor.

It was lovely to see so many of you in church on Wednesday, thank you for joining us in our Easter service.

We finished the book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and all agreed it was a great story and left us wanting to know more about his adventures. We wrote a letter in literacy as if we were him to our first owner telling her about our adventures and how we had learnt to love.

In maths year 3s finished working on mass and moved on to capacity. We looked at the relationship between litres and millilitres and were reading scales and figuring out volumes of liquids. Year 4s have been consolidating their decimals and fractions knowledge learnt so far, adding and subtracting 0.1s and 0.01s, looking at equivalent fractions and decimals etc.

We finished our history topic of ancient civilisations and thought about the things they all had in common.

In computing we wrote code in Scratch that involved 2 characters having a conversation and moving to different locations to tell a story. The children did really well ensuring backdrops changed at the right time and conversations made sense having to make sure each character waited the correct amount of time for the next part of the conversation.

We hope you enjoyed the Book Look on Thursday.  It's a lovely opportunity for your children to share all the work they've been doing with you, they really look forward to it!

Have a fantastic Easter everyone. I hope you get to relax and spend time with family and friends at some point. Fingers crossed the Easter Bunny pays a visit!
