Highmoor 3rd March

Date: 2nd Mar 2023 @ 3:57pm

Welcome to another week in Highmoor.

We have continued to read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and are really enjoying the story and discussions around the text.

We have also read the poem The Sound Collector by Roger McGough. We wrote our own versions of the poem after going on a sound walk and collecting sounds around school. We made sure to include lots of examples of onomatopoeia.

In maths year 4s have been working on equivalent fractions and adding fractions together with both mixed numbers and improper fractions. Year 3s have also been learning about fractions investigating what the numerator and denominator are, ordering fractions, and looking at unit and non unit fractions.

We learnt about the Book of the Dead in history and how it fitted into ancient Egyptian beliefs in the afterlife.

Our computing topic this half term is Scratch programming. Children can log on at home if they want to and have a go at creating some fun computing code. Their log in details are in their Home school Diaries.

On Wednesday we had a fantastic afternoon at Chiltern Edge taking part in an athletics tournament against other local primary schools. All children behaved well and tried their best in their allocated events. Peppard came 2nd in the yr 3/4 tournament! Well done to all!

Friday was World Book Day at Peppard. We shared bed time stories in each others classes in our teams which was lovely and thoroughly enjoyed being in our pyjamas/onesies/comfy clothes all day!

We continued to learn about the digestive system in science and drew and labelled diagrams.

Homework is Doodle maths, to read every day and practise spellings and times tables.

Have a great weekend everyone.
