Highmoor 4th February

Date: 4th Feb 2022 @ 11:23am

Welcome to another week in Highmoor.

We finished our work on Greek myths by rewriting the myth of Perseus and Medusa. All children did a fantastic job of telling the story using lots of the grammatical features and writing techniques we have been studying the last few weeks. We have also been working on an explanation text about how seeds grow to accompany our Science work.

We had lots of fun in science recreating pollination with some of us pretending to bees and others flowers.

In maths we have been looking at multiplication, ensuring we understand exactly what we are doing and the different ways we can represent it. We are also continuing to work on fractions.

Wednesday afternoon was very messy as we had a go at using modroc to create masks. We carefully placed pieces of modroc on ballooons taped to cones to create the shape of the mask. Some of us started to add details to our masks. It was very challenging as we found that once the balloons had some modroc on they became unbalanced. The children demonstrated great perseverance and resilience and we all had a really fun afternoon.

In history we learnt about the siege of Troy. We looked at the archaeological for it and drew our own conclusions as to whether all, some or none of the story was true.

In music we continued to look at pitch and reading written music. We also practised London's Burning in a round.

PE has been fun this week with lots of team games in the Common. In the War Memorial Hall we were balancing and travelling using equipment.

School trip next week on Thursday. All children will need a packed lunch and waterproof coat and shoes.

Have a great weekend everyone.
