Highmoor 5th May

Date: 5th May 2023 @ 9:19am

Welcome to our week in Highmoor.

In maths we have all been working with money. Year 3s have been identifying amounts, converting between pounds and pence and adding money. Year 4 have been doing similar using their decimals knowledge to help them.

We read the Roman myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in the Underworld and did some tricky reading comprehension about it. We also read more Anansi stories and Aesop’s fables. We have identified the moral in each of the stories and the characteristics of the animals. We shall be using this knowledge to write our own short fables.

In science, we investigated which materials would make the best lenses for sunglasses using light meters and torches. We concluded that purple cellophane would be good as we could see through it but it filtered out the bright light.

In art, we first designed then started to make articulated card animals based on those featured in the fables we have been reading.

Computing this half term is all about using tables to record and interpret data. We are investigating the weather both locally and around the world to help us with this.

We had a really lovely Coronation Lunch on Thursday. It was lots of fun eating outside as a whole school together to celebrate this event.

Homework is Doodle maths, read every day, times tables and spellings.

Have a lovely Coronation Weekend everyone!
