Highmoor Class week commencing 11th November

Date: 15th Nov 2019 @ 3:25pm

This week in maths, we have been telling the time. We discussed telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes on both an anologue and a digital clock. Year 4s have been finding later and earlier times and calculating time intervals to work out the running time for various TV programmes.

In Literacy, we read the second chapter of The Iron Man. We reviewed the way in which the main character's feelings changed throughout the chapter and the language the author used to convey this. We wrote in character using emotive language and cause connectives.

In Art this week we focussed on colour and painting technique. Using wax crayons and oil pastels, we drew a firework picture trying to capture the shapes and movement involved. We pressed hard to make some strong marks to intensify the colour. We then painted a wash across the picture. For this to work effectively, we used large brushes and employed long flowing brush strokes across the work. It was fun to see the wax design resist the paint to create great pieces of art.

In Music this week we added precussion instruments to our Viking battle chants. We practiced individually and then performed in front of the whole class.
