Highmoor week commencing 13th September

Date: 16th Sep 2021 @ 5:46pm

Welcome to another week in Highmoor.

This week in literacy we have been reading Stone Age Boy. We have written fantastic setting descriptions of the Stone Age camp helped by using a thesaurus for key words. We have also imagined a conversation between two characters and punctuated our speech correctly. We also did some hot seating pretending to characters from the book which was lots of fun.

In maths we are continuing to look at place value, particularly number lines and identifying the intervals between markings and placing numbers on them. This is trickier than it sounds!

Art was lots of fun recreating our own Stone Age art based on all the cave paintings we explored last week. We used charcoal and mixed turmeric, curry and paprika powder with water to make our own Stone Age paint.

In history we learnt about Skara Brae, a late Stone Age settlement, and enjoyed researching it on the iPads.

Sumdog has been set for times tables homework. It has been running since Monday and will finish Sunday evening. Please ensure your child reads at home every day and records it in their Home School Diary.

Have a great weekend!
