Highmoor week commencing 14th December

Date: 17th Dec 2020 @ 2:00pm

Welcome to the final week of term in Highmoor!
It has been a really busy week with lots of fun activities for the children. In literacy we have been reading The Polar Express. Children have been writing first person recounts as if they were the boy on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa to come. We wrote descriptive sentences to include nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and pronouns and to finish off the work we watched the film and had hot chocolate and biscuits. The children requested that their hot chocolate was delivered to them in the same way it is in the film! For those of you that are familiar with the film - we were not quite up to scratch!
We finished our non chronological reports about Venice and wrote them up onto web pages.
We have done some lovely Christmas crafts, sang carols, completed festive maths worksheets and games and generally had lots of Christmas fun.
Our Christmas lunch was lovely with crackers to celebrate and tables moved so that our classroom felt different.
The carol concert is tonight, details on how to watch online have been emailed to you from the office. Please can children be picked up at 5.50-6pm.
Thank you so much from all of the Highmoor staff for all of the cards and gifts that we have been given. They are very much appreciated.
Thank you also for your support with homework. Reading, times tables and spelling really are key and the children massively benefit from the time put in at home. You are making a huge difference to your child's learning. Thank you.
Finally, we hope you all have a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy the festive period with your families and loved ones and stay safe and well. We are looking forward to being back with the children in the new year.
