Highmoor week commencing 18th March

Date: 20th Mar 2019 @ 11:13pm

The children have been working really hard this week completing assessments. They have all tried their best and produced some great results.

In Science we have continued to learn about Living Things, focussing this week on invertebrates. We learnt about different types of invertebrates and went on a bug hunt outside to see which kind of invertebrates live in our locality. When we returned to the classroom we studied all the creatures we found and used a classification key to identify and scientifically classify them.

In Geography we built our own volcanoes from papier mache. We used vinegar and bicarbonate of soda to create our own volcanic eruptions. It was great fun.

On Monday five year 4s took part in a STEM (science, technology.engineering and maths) challenge event against other schools. We remained champions for the 2nd year in a row! Well done to Josie, Harrison, Astrid, Imogen and Max.

Most of the boys took part in a tag rugby competition on Thursday at Crossfields and again did the school proud with their attitude and good sportsmanship. We won 4 out of 5 games and played brilliantly! Well done boys!

On Friday last week the children did an amazing job of learning a new dance routine in just 2 hours. They then opened the show at the Kenton with the Cha Cha Cha. All the children should feel so proud of themselves. We have had some really positive feedback from the show organisers and dance teacher. They were very complimentary about the children's attitude, behaviour, perseverance and ability. Well done to everyone!
