Highmoor week commencing 1st April
Date: 5th Apr 2019 @ 10:02am
It is the end of the Spring term - Easter holidays are finally here! What an exciting and busy term it has been. We have taken part in football, rugby, netball and athletics tournaments, performed on the stage at the Kenton and won a STEM competition. We have been out on so many trips we've lost count! We have worked so hard in class completing assessments, learning about volcanoes and earthquakes, the Shang Dynasty, writing reports, making virtual tours of our school and what defines a Living Thing. We are ready for the holidays!
The highlight of our last week in school was definitely the trip to the Natural History Museum. We had a great day and enjoyed rounding off our topic about volcanoes and earthquakes by experiencing what it would be like to live through an earthquake by going on an earthquake simulator. Very scary! The children behaved impeccably as usual.
In maths this week we have been focussing on our times tables. We learnt a few tricks to help us learn our nine times table - ask your children to show you how they work it out on their fingers! By the end of year 4 children are expected to know all of their tables off by heart so do keep practising at home.
The last day of term has been both a happy and sad day. Sad because Jasper is leaving us for exciting new adventures in the South of England. We will all really miss you Jasper - you've been a star in the class and a great friend to your classmates. Happy because we took part in our traditional egg rolling competition on the hill! It was a great way to end the term.
If you want to take a look at the virtual tour we have been working on in Literacy you can view it on the school website. Look for "School Tour" along the top.
We hope you all have a lovely Easter and enjoy the break.
