Highmoor week commencing 1st November

Date: 5th Nov 2021 @ 3:08pm

Welcome back to Highmoor!

We have had a very exciting week, the highlight of which was our DT day on Wednesday where we looked at eating seasonally and healthily. We looked at how far some of our fruit and vegetables travel to get to our plate. We learned about the healthy rainbow of fruit and vegetables and what minerals and vitamins different colours if fruit contain and how these benefit our health. We also made lots of delicious things! First up were grilled Japanese fruit skewers with plum sauce using exotic fruit. Next, we made apple and blackberry crumble using fruit available right here on our doorstep. Finally, we made autumn vegetable puff pastry rainbow tarts with cheese and basil. We chose locally available seasonal vegetables and designed our own tarts for their nutritional value as well as their yuminess! Thank you so much to Sally Wade for doing the shopping for us! We really appreciate the help.

In PE we started to learn a new dance - the Charleston! Everyone had a really great go and learning some of the key moves and had lots of fun.

We also had Mrs Griffith join us who will be teaching on Thursdays and Fridays in Highmoor from now on. We had lots of fun getting to know each other. We started our new topic of time in maths which Mrs Griffith will be focussing on in her lessons over the next few weeks.

Included in the photos are some of our Museum which we held just before half term. It was a fantastic afternoon where all children had a chance to be an expert and tell our visitors from the rest of the school all about the artefacts we have made over last half term to go with our history topic. Apologies for the lack of blog in this week, I was poorly.

Have a great weekend everyone.
