Highmoor week commencing 7th June

Date: 9th Jun 2021 @ 8:46pm

Welcome back to school after the half term break.

We have had a busy and enjoyable week. In maths we all looked at 2D and 3D shapes. Year 4 moved on to investigating different types of triangles while year 3 measured and drew accurately in mm and cm. We finished the week consolidating our use of the bus stop method for division.

In literacy we started a new book called The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. We met Edward, a toy rabbit made from china, and thought about what might happen to him on his journey. We have also begun to look at Ananse, the trickster spider. We retold the stories using conjunctions to make our sentences more interesting.

In Computing we have been looking at ‘Extreme Weather’. We researched different types of extreme weather and used Sketchpad to design our own automated machine which responds to sensor data to minimise the disruption caused by extreme weather eg a tsunami early warning system.

In history we learnt about why and how the Romans invaded Britain. We looked at different historical sources that gave us information about Boudica and her rebellion and thought about how trustworthy the sources are.

PE this term is focusing on rounders and athletics. We had lots of fun having a go at long jump and perfected our jumping technique to achieve the longest jump.

Spellings can be found in the usual places - school website, home school diary and in EdShed. Sumdog has been set for times tables and of course please read every day and log on Go Read.

Have a great weekend everyone.
