Peppard Class - 16th November 2018

Date: 16th Nov 2018 @ 2:02pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard Class. We started the week with an enjoyable trip to Greys Court. We began our walk in the gardens where we made a wish at the wishing well. We then learned an autumn song and read the story 'Stickman'. We then had a quick drink before heading to the woodland park where we made dens. The children  were working in teams to create dens.  We took our very own Stickman with us but we think he has got lost!  If you see him, please do let us know where he is.  The children have made some lovely posters so the local school commuity know that he is missing.

The children have learned the story well and they have made pictues of their favourite part of the story.  We are now sounding out words to write captions on pictures.  The children are keen to write during their choosing time.

In phonics this week, we have learned the new sounds 'x', 'y', 'z', and the tricky words 'he' and 'she'.  Please encourage purposeful writing at home.

In maths, we have been doing subtraction.  The children have been playing games, singing songs, and they have been writing their own number sums.

We introduced 'Helicopter stories' this week.  This is an exciting approach to story writing where the children dictate a story to the adult who then writes it down.  The story is acted out around our stage in the classroom.  Here is a little bit more information about Helicopter stories.
