Peppard class - 18th October 2019

Date: 18th Oct 2019 @ 12:10am

Welcome to our week in Peppard Class.

In phonics this week, we have been consolidating our letters and sounds so far.  We have been practising blending and segmenting words.  We have been writing and practising letter formation.

Thank you so much for reading at home, it makes an enormous difference to your child's progress.

In maths this week, we have been learning about number 5.  We have introduced number bonds with a story about number 5's birthday party.  The children used numicon, linking blocks and a shakey shakey tin to learn about the different ways to combine the numbers.  Some of the children have started to record their findings.

We have continued to learn the story of the Little Red Hen including our trip to Pizza Expess where we made our own delicious pizzas.  We innovated the story of the Little Red Hen so the hen made a pizza instead of bread.  We also innovated the characters in the story.  Everyone painted their own new character.

We would like to invite you to come into class on Thursday afternoon at 3.15 to see some of the children's work and displays.  We will tell you the story of The Little Red Hen and show you the innovated pictures.

The children love their choosing time in Peppard class.  We have observed lovely groups and friendships.  The children are working and playing cooperatively,

We have a lovely daily snack time called Snackanory.  We sing and read stories together whilst the children eat their snacks in a family environment.  We encourage the children to make healthy choices.

We have loved developing our skills during woodwork.  We have moved from balsa wood to hard wood which is more difficult but the children are very motivated.  I must say a big thank you to Mr Byron who has been keeping us stocked up with resources and ideas.

We would be grateful for milk bottle tops - they make fabulous wheels.

Have a lovely weekend.
