Peppard class - 28.02.2019

Date: 28th Feb 2019 @ 4:07pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard Class.  I do hope that the children have enjoyed this week as much as Mrs Wall and I have.

We have introduced woodwork this week.  It has been so much fun but also a valuable learning experience.  The children have been learning about safety, hand to eye coordination, maths, and creativity whilst designing their very own piece of woodwork.  We hope to develop their skills by using harder wood over the next couple of weeks.

In phonics this week, we have been recapping the phase 3 sounds, tricky words and 2 syllable words.  We are grateful to you for all your help at home with reading and learning sounds.  Please do keep this up as the repetition makes a valuable contribution to your child's ability to retain the information.

In maths this week, we have been doing some number work involving one more, one less and place value.  We have been using objects, number resources, number lines and hundred squares.

In other news, the children have been learning the story Handa's surprise.  The story is set in Kenya.  My cousin kindly brought me some lovely items from a Ugandan market for our display table.  The children have been learning the story and we have looked at some facts about Africa.

Have a lovely weekend.
