Peppard class - 28th Feb 2020

Date: 25th Feb 2020 @ 9:41pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard class.

In phonics, we have been recapping phase 3 sounds and tricky words.  The children have practised reading and writing using their phonic knowledge.

Thankyou for your help at home, please keep reading and practising sounds.

In maths this week, we have been looking at counting on and back.  We enjoyed singing 10 green bottles and looking at the different addition and subtraction facts in the song.  We have used different resources, such as dinosaurs, as manipulatives to help answer some more and less questions.  We have also used the cars and parking spaces to problem solve and calculate.  We always encourage the children to explain their mathematical thinking.

We have been practising retelling the story of Handa's surprise and we have innovated the story.  The children have chosen different fruits to paint and they have designed a new character.

During choosing time, the children have been playing and scoring using skittles, problem solving whilst making ball and marble runs, and engaged in woodwork creations.  We have been paying particular attention to the children's communication and language this week, and have loved chatting with the children and hearing them chatting and communicating with each other.

Please come to our end of topic presentation next Friday at 9 am for approximately 15 minutes.

Enjoy the weekend
