Peppard class - w/b 5th October 2020

Date: 5th Oct 2020 @ 10:15pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard class.

This week, we have learned the phonics sounds:

h, b, f, and l

The children have read with me daily.  Their progress is super and we have been practising blending our letters and sounds and learning some tricky words that cannot be sounded out.  We will send out a selection of books next week.

In maths, we have been working with the numbers up to 4.  The children have been learning about number bonds and the different numbers that are put together to make 4.  We made a party for number 4 and all the other numbers had to come with a partner.  We also thought about zero.  We have been learning to explain and reason using our numbers to 4.  We also did some exercise whilst counting up to 100.  The children have also been ordering numbers and creating number lines.

We enjoyed making our dinosaur biscuits on Tuesday.  We used the scales to weigh our ingrediants.  We also used the rain water from the tarpaulin to compare capacity in different size containers.

We have enjoyed the story - The dinosaur who pooped a planet.  We thought about the different features on the main character, Dino.  We then learned about adjectives and labelled Dino.  We continued to think about adjectives while we were choosing and eating.

The weather has provided us with lots of opportunities to examine nature outside.  The children were digging for worms and we found some snails.  We observed them before returning to their natural habitat.
