Peppard class - week beginning 3.2.2020

Date: 3rd Feb 2020 @ 9:21pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard class.

Our new story in Peppard class is called Handa's Surprise.  After hearing the story, we talked about the different animals and the adjectives that the author uses.  We then used our helicopter story format to act it out.

The children then seqenced and retold the story using pictures and props.

We had a lovely day out at the Look out centre.  The children were a real credit to you, they behaved well and showed lots of curiosity and interest in everything.  We had a show about animals and humans.  We looked at bones and teeth of a variety of skulls, we learnt about the food chain and we grouped animals by the place that they live.   We then looked around the exhibits and went up the tower.  It was a fun and interactive day.  Our newly acquired knowledge will be linked to the animals and humans in our story.

In phonics this week and next week we are recapping the consonant digraphs, vowel digraphs and trigraphs and tricky words.  We are reading and writing using our sounds.  We are writing words, captions and short sentences.  Please practise the sounds over half term.  We will send them home for you.

In maths this week, we have been comparing numbers up to 10.  We have been looking at more and less and working out the difference using a variety of resources.  We played the game 'rob the nest' in the garden before comparing numbers up to 20 when working out the score.  We watched the Blockzilla episode of the Numberblocks and learned the symbols for more, less and equals.
