Peppard class - 12.11.2021

Date: 12th Nov 2021 @ 3:16pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard class.

In phonics we have recapped the sounds c, e, u, r, ck.

We have begun our new reading scheme which has been lovely.  I have been reading with small groups and we have been concentrating on:

Tuesdays:  Lesson one:  Decoding the book

Book goes home for the children to develop fluency (familiarity so they no longer need to sound talk).

Friday:  Lesson two: Focus on prosody and comprehension

It is essential that books are in school on FRIDAYS.

We will send a different book home for the weekend.

In maths this week, we have been learning about one more and one less.  We have been using different representations to support our learning.  We have used a 5 frame and we have been learning about part part whole.

The children were very engaged in our service about Remembrance.  They learned about the 2 minute silence and were fantastic as we observed it together.  We then carried out some activities.

We read the story of Stickman and discussed the different problems that happened in the story.  The children each drew a picture of one of the problems from the story.
