Peppard class - 19.11.2021

Date: 19th Nov 2021 @ 3:56pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard class.

We have been learning and recapping the new phonic sounds - h, f, b, l

We have been using our new Little Wandle programme which is going well.  Here is a link to the parents' page on their website.

We had fun making our own codes that we stuck to our legs so we could practise our sounds throughout the day.

In maths, we have been investigating one more and one less with numbers to 5.  We have also been practising our subitising skills and we did an activity that involved spotting the odd one out.  We have been using a range of practical resources to support our learning.  We also have a snack cafe each day.  This reinforces our mathematical skills as we count out an amount.

We have continued to explore the season of Autumn.  We have been comparing leaves that we collected a few weeks ago with leaves that we collected today.  We discussed what the leaves feel like, the similarities and differences and what leaves need to stay healthy.

We continued reading the story of Stickman.  We learned the word 'innovate' before making our own changes to the story by creating a new problem for Stickman.  We have also enjoyed making our own stick people using a variety of craft materials.

We listened to a story about hibernation before completing an activity to sort animals that do and do not hibernate.

Please remember to bring books in daily.  It is great to see your child's progress.  We hope you are able to read with your child at home every day because this will aid fluency.
